2014

To meet the needs of their growing community, the City of Pleasanton acquired an existing storefront building for their new library and community center. The location across the street from City Hall provided the ideal opportunity to establish a stronger civic presence in the heart of this small, southern town. The project consisted of the reuse and remodel of a portion of the existing building and the complete demolition and reconstruction of the remaining portion. The existing painted concrete masonry exterior was also replaced with limestone and stucco giving the building a stronger presence. This project now provides the City with a new 9,000 sf library and 13,500 sf community center.  RVK also designed the “Freedom Center” along Main Street providing the community with an outdoor venue space for Market Day events and small concerts enhancing the ‘sense of place’ in the heart of town.
