This project consists of a new senior community center for the residents of District 10, located at the corner of Thousand Oaks Drive and Scarsdale Street. The facility is located on a 6-acre tract of land bounded by the Northern Hills Subdivision/Northern Hills Country Club and multi-family residences to the north, with The Waterford senior living campus and the Northern Hills Country Village to the east, and the Oak Grove Estates to the south. This building is the first ground-up, new construction, senior center for the City of San Antonio.

RVK’s design of the new facility provides a large capacity dining/special event space, multi-purpose activity areas including work-out recreational space, computer/internet café space, continuing education rooms, meeting/conference rooms, arts and crafts workshop areas, warming kitchen, food commodities receiving and distribution area, dedicated space for general health evaluations, walking trails, and outdoor gathering space. Consideration was also given to the provision of amenities and services such as internet/WiFi-access, health/wellness/nutrition training, preventative health education, computer training/education, and social services. Low impact development features include rain gardens and bio-swales which capture rain water from the parking lots. Designed for LEED Silver certification.
