RVK’s IDIQ contract (2014-2016) involved architectural design for projects of a general or routine nature. The contract included the expansion of the Monterey Building Café at the downtown campus. For this social hub, various modes of short term and long term seating were provided via banquet style tables and booths, while modular furniture creates various collaboration spaces. The design included a ‘cloud lounge’ equipped with unistruts to hold ceiling art or student designs, thus creating the ultimate gallery. Students are provided access to vending machines and/or meal service. An outdoor social space was designed adjacent to the Café to include a pergola with seating surrounded by native landscaping.
