Holt companies

This project encompasses Phase 2 of the campus improvement master plan which includes the design and construction of a headquarters building, parking lots, equipment berms, utility work and landscaping north of Holt Drive.

RVK’s design of the corporate headquarters building consists of a three-story 82,616 sf office building on a portion of a 146-acre existing corporate campus bound by W.W. White on the west, E. Southcross on the north and Loop 410 on the east. The building houses Holt Companies’ administrative and financial offices, several training facilities, a large breakroom and a fitness center. The building is located on an existing dirt equipment yard to the east of the current “Barn” office building. Space was allocated on the site for a 36,000 sf expansion to the building on the east side of the proposed site. Visitor parking is provided to the south of the building, accessible from the lengthened Holt Drive in a 105-space lot with room for 58 additional spaces. Employee parking is provided to the north of the building in a lot accessible from E. Southcross with 192 spaces and 53 future spaces.

The building exterior features a combination of stone veneer, aluminum panels, concrete panels and curtainwall glazing. The structure is created by load bearing concrete panels of varying heights and steel structural system above with a steel joist system spanning between. The center of the building showcases the entry lobby for visitors and employees with a two-story space accessed by two passenger elevators. An open stair in the employee lobby provides access to the 2nd floor. Fire stairs at either end of the building provide access to all three floors and the roof deck. A freight elevator is provided on the west side for moving larger items. The roof houses the air cooled chillers and chilled water pumps serving fan units in each side of each floor. The building is provided with a backup electrical generator on the ground.

RVK collaborated with a local artist for the creative display of earth-moving equipment; a private walkway will feature preserved equipment from Holt’s private collection of historical machinery.
